FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - SHOP POLICIES BELOW

1.  SHOULD I GET MY WATCH REPAIRED?
Ask yourself this question, Do I like the watch?  There you go!  You've answered your own question.  In general, if you regularly buy cheap watches and buy another when the battery dies or have no sentimental attachment to a watch then watch repair is probably not for you.  If you prefer better watches (over $100)  and/or have sentimental attachments to the watch then you will probably get your watch repaired.

2.  WHAT BRANDS DO YOU SERVICE?
We service ALL brands as long as we can get parts!  You can call us at 214-383-1166 before you send your watch and we can verify parts availability etc.

3.  DO YOU SERVICE REPLICA OR KNOCK-OFF WATCHES?
Absolutely NOT.  Parts are not available and in some cases, these watches are illegal in our country.

4.  WHAT FORM OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT AND HOW DO I PAY FOR MY REPAIR?
We accept major credit cards, Paypal, checks and money orders.  You can pay securely on our website, by phone or mail.

5.  WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR SENDING IN MY WATCH?
It's Easy!  Simply, fill out the online mail-in watch repair form on our website.  You will receive an acknowledgement email saying that we received your form.  Then, mail your watch using the address label provided  in the email.   After we receive your watch,  you will receive another email saying that your watch has arrived.  We will inspect and diagnose your watch and then, a Jack's representative will call you with the repair estimate.   If you accept the estimate, we will start the repair work.  While your watch is being repaired, you can call us anytime for status at 214-383-1166 or email at jack@jackswatchrepair.com.

6.  I ONLY OWN ONE WATCH SO WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
A suggestion.  Go to a discount store and buy an inexpensive watch until your watch is repaired.  Understandably, we live in a drive-thru society and a lot of people expect things to be done yesterday or sooner.   However, watches are precision instruments made up of tiny parts most of which are only clearly visible with magnification.  This type of work takes time.  Although we do our best to get your watch back to you as quickly as possible, it has to repaired and tested properly.  For quartz watches, we ask about 1-4 weeks after we receive parts.  For mechanicals, 4-8 weeks after we receive parts.  Sorry, we won't do rush jobs!

7. HOW SHOULD I SHIP MY WATCH?
Wrap bubble wrap or something similar around your watch 2-3 times and put in small sturdy box.   Use the mail carrier of you choice but make sure they insure jewelry as some do not.  Please do not sent the gift box or manuals as we do not need them and we can't guarantee they will be returned to you.

8. HOW WILL YOU SHIP MY WATCH BACK TO ME?
Our normal shipping carrier is The United States Postal Service, Priority Mail with insurance up to $200 value.  For orders consisting of at least 1 approved repair, our charge for return shipping is $10 which can typically cover several watches.  Additional insurance, package weight, next day deliveries or other options such as registered mail, are available at an extra charge.  Please contact us at 214-383-1166 for a quote.

9.  OTHER SHOPS SAID THAT MY WATCH CAN'T BE FIXED, CAN YOU?
We hear this alot.  Most of the time it's that they really don't know or don't want to spend the time to find out how to repair the watch.    We will be more than happy to look at your watch and in most cases, repair it!   Normally,  the only reason a watch can't be fixed is because parts are not available.  And, just because the factory doesn't have parts, doesn't mean that there aren't any.  Don't give up!  Call us at 214-383-1166.

10.  DO YOU OFFER MULTI LEVEL SERVICES?
At Jack's you won't find confusing multi level services that give you a sense of low prices but in the end target your pocket book for things you really don't need and ignore the things that you do need.  Our tailored services are designed to get your watch working at peak performance and looking great again

11.  IS THERE A CHARGE FOR ESTIMATES?
There is no estimate charge for approved repairs but there is a diagnostic and return shipping charge for orders consisting of ALL declined repairs.  This charge is $20 and $5 for each additional watch repair that is declined.    If you have at least one watch repaired in your job, there are no charges for any declined repairs in that same job

REPAIR PRICING:

Prices are based on each individual case of service or repair required.  We may offer customers discounts for multiple items being serviced at one time or flat rate charges for several repairs on 1 item. These discounts are based on each individual case of required services and are subject to refund and warranty policies. Repair and Service prices are subject to change without notice.

ESTIMATES:
There is no estimate charge for approved repairs but there is a diagnostic and return shipping charge for orders consisting of ALL declined repairs.  This charge is $25 and $5 for each additional watch repair that is declined.    If you have at least one watch repaired in your job, there are no charges for any declined repairs in that same job.

In most cases, the initial repair estimate will be accurate but, please understand that a repair estimate can actually be more depending on the difficulty of the job and parts required.  In addition, there may be latent problems discovered during the repair process which the customer may be responsible for.

RETURN SHIPPING / INSURANCE:
Our normal shipping carrier is The United States Postal Service, Priority Mail with insurance up to $200 value.  For orders consisting of at least 1 approved repair, our charge for return shipping is $10 which can typically cover several watches.  Additional insurance, package weight, next day deliveries or other options such as registered mail, are available at an extra charge.  Please contact us at 214-383-1166 for a quote.

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that we are given the correct return shipping address.  If no other address is given to us in writing, we will use the address entered by the customer in their Watch Repair Form to return repaired items. We do not guarantee delivery or delivery dates and are not responsible for lost or stolen packages.  The customer is responsible for our normal shipping charges including any additional insurance for all Returned packages.

REPAIR PROCESS / TURNAROUND:
Watch Repair in general is not a fast process. A watch is a precision instrument that needs to be well tested each time it is altered during a repair.  It is not in the customer's best interest to rush a job or return a watch which has not been well tested.  Working with small parts is very difficult and time consuming so we ask for your patience.

To start a job, we need a verbal, implied or written go-ahead from the customer.  Our normal turnaround time for quartz watch repair is about 1 to 4 weeks after we have received parts for the job.  Our normal turnaround time for mechanical watch repair and retrofits is about 4 to 8 weeks after we have received parts for the job. Normally, parts will not be ordered for a job until we have received the repair estimate balance.  In some cases, we will order parts in advance of payment to speed up the repair process.

REPAIRS AND SERVICES - GENERAL:
Repairs and Services will be performed by our best interpretation of items presented to us verbally or in writing prior to starting a job.  Specific repairs and services should be documented in detail and given to us before the job is started.  It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that we are well informed of all details of the work to be performed.  We will only perform and warranty work that we have been instructed and compensated to do.  Incidental repairs and services are performed as a courtesy and are not covered by our standard warranty.  Jack's Watch Repair reserves the right to determine the final course of action for any discrepancy in repairs or services performed.

For orders consisting of ALL declined repairs, there is a diagnostic and return shipping charge of $20 and $5 for each additional watch repair that is declined.  If you have at least one watch repaired in your job, there are no charges for any declined repairs in that same job.

REPAIRS AND SERVICES - METHODS & MATERIALS:

Jack's Watch Repair will determine the best method and materials to be used in a job.  We do not accept requests for methods of repairs or use customer supplied parts. We use both genuine and generic materials in our repairs and services. Specific materials requested for a job must be documented in detail and given to us before the job is started.  In such cases, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that we are well informed of specific materials to be used.  Jack's Watch Repair reserves the right to determine the final course of action for any discrepancies in materials used in a job.

WATER RESISTANCE:

We do our best to reseal all watches that we repair to ensure that the marked water resistance is maintained.  This is accomplished by replacing key parts and testing when necessary.

The analogy of getting a wheel alignment on a car then afterwards hitting a bump causing the alignment to change can compare to water resistance in a watch.  If a watch is repaired and the marked water resistance is accomplished and then, the watch is dropped or otherwise damaged, the water resistance could possibly be reduced or lost entirely. Water resistance in a watch is only temporary unless, the owner has the watch checked on a regular basis by a watchmaker.

Due to the physical forces that act upon a watch through normal daily wear, we do not guarantee water resistance and we are not responsible for damages caused by water.  It is the owner's responsibility to understand the water resistance rating of their watch and to use common sense when using the watch in water.  Click here
to learn more about water resistance.

REPAIR OR OTHER DUE BALANCES:
Balances are due when you are given a repair estimate or balance due notification.  Repair estimates can be given by phone or emailed using the information on your mail-in form or other forms of notification.  Normally,  we will first call by phone and if there is no response in 1-3 days, we will send an email with the estimate information.  It is the customer's responsibility to promptly respond.  We do not investigate email failures, phone line or answering machine problems including not relayed messages

If we do not receive the repair balance after 30 days, we will consider the watch(s) abandoned and will liquidate the watch(s) repaired or not,  to recover our expenses.  If our expenses are not entirely recovered through liquidation, a bill for the remaining balance will be sent to the address provided on the mail-in watch form or other notification.

PAYMENT METHODS:
We accept payment by most major credit cards, Paypal, bank or postal money orders and personal checks.
We offer online payments using the secure transaction PayPal website.  Customers DO NOT need a PayPal account to pay by credit card.  For more information on PayPal go to www.paypal.com.   We can also accept credit card payments by phone, fax or secure email.
Please note that personal checks may take upto 10 days to clear the bank and repairs will not be started until it has cleared.
Returned checks will be charged a minimum of $30.00.

* Texas residents will be charged 8.25% sales tax

CANCELLATIONS:

If after a go ahead has been given for a service/repair, the order may be cancelled if parts have not been ordered or the job itself has not been started.   A per watch $25 cancellation fee and shipping charges will be applied to all cancelled jobs.
Once any part(s) for the job has been ordered or if the service/repair has been started, the customer is responsible for the entire repair quote given to them.  To cancel an order, call 214-383-1166 and speak with a representative. Repaired items will not be returned until the entire repair balance has been paid in full.

REFUNDS:
Refunds will normally be in the same form as the original payment used for purchase.   Refunds may take up to 30 days to process.  We can not refund shipping and handling charges.

PARTIAL REFUNDS:
In the case of a partial refund, only a percentage of the total amount will be refunded.  For example, there are several repairs on 1 item and it has been determined that 1 of the repairs will be refunded. Only the charge for that 1 item will be refunded,  not the total amount for all repairs.  In the case of a flat or discounted rate charge, Jack's Watch Repair will determine the final amount of refund depending on the time and materials spent on the particular job.

STANDARD WARRANTY:
Jack’s Watch Repair will warrant repairs for a period of 1 year from defects in parts and workmanship as outlined under our ITEM WARRANTY COVERAGE below. We are not responsible for damages due to accidental breakage, misuse, negligence, water, other liquids, worn parts and any other unforseen or latent problems.  This warranty is void if any party other than Jack’s Watch Repair opens or works on the watch.  Jack’s Watch Repair will make the final determination for all warranty repairs.

Incidental repairs and services are performed as a courtesy and are not covered by our standard warranty. When necessary, we may use other contractors to assist in or complete a job.  Any work performed by another party on our behalf will be covered under our standard warranty.

The customer is responsible for all billable warranty repairs and shipping charges including insurance before the watch is returned.  Our warranty return shipping rate is $15.00  which includes USPS Priority Mail and insurance up to $500.00.  If a watch is returned for warranty service within 30 days of receipt, there is no return shipping charge.

Any warranty repair bill that is not paid within 30 days will result in the cancellation of the 1 Year Warranty.  No exceptions.
